In this video, we're going to rank Tom Hiddleston's performance as the trickster god Loki. Hiddleston has portrayed the character in several films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Loki is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber and penciller Jack Kirby, a version of the character first appeared in Venus #6 (August 1949).
Few casting choices in the MCU have proven as pitch-perfect as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. With a magnetic blend of charm, menace, and vulnerability, Hiddleston turned a secondary villain into one of Marvel’s most beloved and complex characters. From Thor to Infinity War, his evolution from power-hungry trickster to reluctant hero gave the MCU some of its most compelling moments.
Hiddleston brought Shakespearean gravitas to every scene, whether he was commanding armies or cracking sly one-liners. His chemistry with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) grounded the godly drama in a believable sibling rivalry filled with resentment and love.
However, not every iteration of Loki hit the mark. Despite Hiddleston’s unwavering performance, the Loki TV series stumbled with inconsistent writing and plot directions that didn’t quite honor the character’s established arc. Still, Hiddleston remained a force of nature—proving that even when the material faltered, his portrayal never did.
